Hey Dribbble! — I’m a player now 🙌
What happened?
I created my Dribbble account back at the end of 2019 and ever since I wanted to post a shot. But I lack the skill and the content. It took me some time to learn Illustrator and start designing. I started off with typography and character drawings. My first post was on the 3rd of April, 2020 in the lockdown period.
So What?
Later I realized that anyone can sign up to find, follow, or hire designers at Dribbble. But you need to be a player to upload shots or leave comments. And how do you become a player? You need to be invited by an existing player. I’ll tell you the difference in a bit.
So I felt little off, thought my designs will remain unnoticed. 😢
Prospects and Players
I did not know much about this player concept so I started browsing the internet to find out more. Then I came across Kalpesh Prithyani’s, “Why a designer needs to be on Dribbble”. He clearly explained:
Prospects: They can upload their shots but Dribbbble doesn’t promote them in the news feed. The shots are only visible on the profile page and on the draft page (which people rarely visit). Prospects can’t comment on posts.
Players: They are the actual community members. Work posted by Players appears on the feed page of other designers, which means more reach and feedback.
I’m Excited!
Days passed and I started learning UX, did my first app in Figma. I loved it so much, I wrote a case study on Medium, explained clearly how I completed it. Designed a mockup and posted it on Dribbble. Guess What!
You have been invited to be a player on Dribbble.
I have received a notification on Gmail. Rodrigo Blergh, an animator and a graphic designer from Brazil has invited me to be a player on Dribbble.
Now my content goes to other designer’s feed and now I have the privilege of getting the real feedback. Feel free to view my Dribbble shots 🏀
Lots of Love! Rodrigo Blergh
